Greece is a contracting party to more than 5000 international agreements, both multilateral and bilateral, since the beginning of the 19th century, immediately after the creation of the Greek State.
Greece is a member of most international organizations of universal character, as well as member of regional and European organizations, such as the European Union, the Council of Europe, NATO and the OSCE.
