Where can a visitor stay?

The accommodation infrastructure in Greece is complete and renovated all the time. The visitor can choose among hotels, rooms and apartments, eco-tourism units, camping and traditional pensions found all over the country.

The active hotel potential of the country has reached 592,400 beds in 8,100 hotels of all categories from 348.171 beds in 1985 (Jan.2000, GNTO figures). In recent years, agro-tourism accommodation, which is in isolated and more ‘virgin’ areas of the country, has been on the increase. There the visitor can combine the peace and beauty of nature with the traditional food and colour of each area.

The visitor can also find in most of the islands as well as in areas of mainland Greece rooms or apartments to let, which are usually very reasonably priced and clean and tidy as well. Reservations are made through the local tourist agents, municipal tourist offices or the Tourist Police, but also through the simple method of searching after reaching the destination running the risk, though, of facing discomfort during the peak period.

Alternatively, one can stay in the camping sites existing in the country. There are 351 organized camping sites in Greece providing space for tents or trailers or small huts. They offer many services making your staying comfortable. Use the search engine of GNTO, in order to find the camping sites in the area you are interested in.
